Luiza I. Tillery, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Humble, Texas. Born on June 25, 1934, in Ponta Porã, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, to Alberto and Joana Wider, Luiza lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet strength.
Luiza's journey brought her to the United States at the tender age of 18, where she embraced every challenge with grace and resilience. Her life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her deep love for her family. She was the calm in her children's lives, their safe place, and their unwavering support.
A passionate gardener, Luiza found joy in the beauty of flowers and the serenity of her garden. She also loved painting and solving puzzles, activities that reflected her thoughtful and creative nature. Though she was a quiet woman, her words carried profound meaning and power, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of hearing them.
Luiza's nursing career spanned decades at Memorial Hermann Southwest, beginning at Memorial Baptist before it became part of Memorial Hermann hospitals system. Her dedication to her work was evident in her transition from pediatrics to the psychiatric specialty, driven by her love for her first grandchild. She briefly retired to care for her grandbaby, a testament to her deep devotion to her family.
Preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and Joana Wider, her beloved husband, Joe Rex Tillery, and her siblings, Elfrieda Hayes, Margret Ritcher, and Alfredo Wider, Luiza leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. She is survived by her cherished children, Albert Tillery and Alissa Clark, and her husband Jerry; her sister, Ana Marie Sanders; and her adored grandchildren, Brittnee Tillery, Michael Clark, Josselyn Clark, and Shelby Clark.
Luiza's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, resilience, and dedication. She will be dearly missed by her beloved family and all who knew her. Her memory will forever bloom in the hearts of those she touched.
