Mrs. Lola Mae Hammons' Obituary
Lola Mae Hammons, 77, passed away on Christmas Day 2011 in an area hospital. She was born in Diboll, Texas on May 20, 1934 to William Ernest Morgan and Myrtie Irene Johnson Morgan. Lola married Thelbert Hammons on April 6, 1952. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2012. For 44 years the family made their home in Jacinto City and were active members of the Fisrt Baptist Church of Jacinto City. Mrs. Hammons was a well known award winning sales representative with Avon Products for 32 years. She truly lived her Christian beliefs and was the "glue that held her family together". In later years she and Thelbert moved to New Caney, Texas and they were members of Cypress Point Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Thelbert Hammons; their children Irene Hammons Callaway and husband Kenneth, Terence Hammons, Angelou Hammons Smith and husband Jeff, Stephen Mat Hammons and wife Camie, Lola Melinda Hammons Gillie, Melodee Hammons Brown and husband Trip; 33 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her only surviving brother Alvin Morgan and wife Mozell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones. Besides her parents Lola was preceded in death by her brothers Frank Morgan, Allen Morgan , Elmer Morgan, and James Morgan and her sister Edna Morgan Burns. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at San Jacinto Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Bro. Alfred Smith of Cypress Point Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
