Lillie M. Pratt's Obituary
Lillie Mae Ruffin; enter this life on January 2, 1929, in Millington, Tennessee. She was the 1 of 10 children born to the late Sip and Lucy Ruffin.
Lillie grew up in a strict, but loving Christian home. She had such loving memories of sitting on the porch with her father (Sip), as he led bible study with the family. The word of God was imbedded in her from the very start of her life. When she became older, she decided to move to the big city of Chicago with a couple of her siblings. She got married and at the age of 21 she had her first child, and five more after that. Four of her children and all of her sibling have received their heavenly wings. Lillie has always had a beautiful, kind, strong, yet dominating spirit. After her move to Chicago she continued her walk with Christ at The Church of Today Apostolic Church under the leadership of Mother D. Bingham.
Mother Pratt as she is affectionately known truly loved the Lord and her children. She loved all children and the other kids in the neighborhood gravitated to her home. Whether they would receive a warm hug, the word of God or firm discipline, they loved her back and wanted to be around.
Constantly being led by the Holy Spirit and continuing her walk with God; in 1978 she moved to Los Angeles, CA to start the next chapter of her life. She was ordinated to preach the Holy Gospel on August 2, 1987 under the leadership Rev. C. Mitchem, Sr. at New Saint Joseph Missionary Baptist Church.
Mother Pratt loved living in California. The warm climate the majestic mountains and the beautiful palm trees was a place of harmony for her. But in 2011 she chose to move to Houston, TX to be close to her youngest child (Cie) and to peacefully live out the remainder of her days.
On Wednesday July 6, 2022, the heavenly windows were opened and The Pretty Lady peacefully received her wings to glory. She leaves happy memories in the hearts of… Her two youngest children Criss Johnson (Illinois) and Cie Pollog (Texas), sixteen grandchildren, a plethora of great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and her god son Richard Davis, Jr. (California). We thank God for lending her to us. We are all better because she has been a part of our lives.
We take comfort in knowing that she has just received her wings and has entered the Pearly Gates with her hands raised high celebrating with the family that has preceded; her parents, Sip & Lucy Ruffin and her first four children, Rev. Carl Johnson, Rev. Alfonso Johnson, O’Shea Johnson & Minister Lutricia (Cookie) Johnson. Also her 9 siblings, Brothers: Earl, Earnest, CD, Henry, Roosevelt and Joe, Sisters: Mattie, Alberta and Lannie. Mother we will miss you so much, but Praise God you are in no more pain.
