Lewis Hart's Obituary
Harry Lewis Hart, 80, passed away on April 24, 2023, at his home in Houston, Texas.
Lewis was born on February 9, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Joseph E. and Annie B. Hart, of Liberty, Texas. As a youth, Lewis participated in Boy Scouts and earned the highest rank of Eagle Scout, one of the youngest in Texas at the time. He graduated from C. E. King High School in 1960, where he captained the football team each year and was voted "Most Handsome" in his class.
Lewis commuted to Sam Houston State while working a full-time job and was just shy of graduation when he was transferred out of state for work. He started his career working for Bell Telephone (AT&T) and quickly progressed through the years to become an Executive Regional Sales Manager before retiring at the age of 42. Lewis had many successful personal and professional accomplishments throughout his life including becoming a Master Mason with over 50 years as a dedicated member.
Ever the entrepreneur, Lewis dabbled in a few other careers before ultimately finding his calling in landscaping. He was passionate about his landscaping business and not a day went by that he did not drive out to check on the progress of job sites and the homes in his communities. Never one to slow down, he truly enjoyed the people he worked with and delivering the highest quality of work for his customers. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his job and was devoted to his community.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Saundra (Van Zandt), whom he married on December 17, 1999, after a 13-year whirlwind courtship. He is also survived by his daughter Tammy, her husband Dan Southard, stepsons David Stanley and wife Kathi and Eric Stanley and wife Kim, sister-in-law Sharon Van Zandt, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Lewis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he so passionately served.
