Leonard 'Lonnie' William Friend's Obituary
Leonard William Friend, affectionately known as Lonnie, passed away on September 22, 2024, in Baytown, Texas, at the age of 51. Born on January 8, 1973, in Houston, Texas, to Clarence William and Dorella Lyn Friend, Lonnie grew up with a passion for classic cars and soul music.
Lonnie’s journey through life was marked by his love for family, friends, and the simple joys of life. While working at the airport operating heavy machinery. Lonnie met Terresa’s father, which led to a beautiful relationship with Terresa Bryant. They began their life together in 2007, building a family filled with love and laughter.
Lonnie had a deep love for classic cars, especially his '66 Novas, and spent countless hours working on it. His passion for music, particularly soul music, was evident in his daily life. He enjoyed watching movies, from comedies to scary movies, with a special fondness for the Chucky series. His favorite TV shows included car shows, food shows, and Impractical Jokers. Lonnie was known for his love of chicken and Coca-Colas, his sense of humor, and his ability to make everyone around him laugh. He was an old soul who enjoyed wearing his ball caps and spending time with his family.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his baby, Gavin Glen Friend and his father Clarence 'Butch' Friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Terresa Bryant; his children, Candace Friend, Julian Eddins, Christian Eddins, Vennesa Eddins, and Ava Friend; his siblings, Sherry Kowalaki, Kevin Friend, John Arron Friend, and Tasha Dwyer; his granddaughter, Elaine Hensley; and his mother, Dorella Engebretson.
Lonnie will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who will always remember his warm smile, his jokes, and his love for life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
