Mrs. Leah Hargett Reeder's Obituary
LEAH HARGETT REEDER peacefully ended her time on this Earth on Nov. 11th, 2017 at the age of 83 years. She had been a resident of Channelview, Texas for more than 50 years where she raised her five children. She was born in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Raleigh and Edna Mae Hargett on February 17, 1934.
Leah was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tilman Ross Reeder, Jr., her daughter Jacqueline Moore, her grandsons John Moore, Jason Asher, Brandon Moore, and her mother Edna Mae Spaulding, her father Raleigh Hargett, and numerous brothers and sisters.
She met and married the love of her live, Tilman, on April 5, 1952, in Chase, Maryland. They moved to Texas in 1955 where she found employment with various merchants in the food service industry.
She is survived by one sister Clara; sons Kenneth Reeder, Douglas Reeder and wife Jeanie, Kenneth Moore, Karen Broach and husband Tom, Linda Walton and husband Mickey. Grandchildren include Jonathan, Crystal, Timothy, A.J., Amber, Clayton, Aaron, Matthew, Jessica, Rachael, Travis, Craig, Mike, Blair Walton and Wife Carrie, Drake, Brady and numerous Great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to all the nurses and staff that cared for our mother the last few years of her life while she lived at Cedar Bayou Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. A special thanks to our departed sister, Jackie and her husband Ken for the many, many years they sacrificed to live with mother and care for her and our father at the end of their lives. It takes special people to be caregivers at end of life.
A Celebration of Leah’s Life will be held in the chapel of the San Jacinto Funeral Home in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018 at 10:00 am.
