Layton Leroy Wyman Jr.'s Obituary
Layton Leroy Wyman Jr., age 79, passed away on December 17, 2024, in Houston, Texas. Born on January 3, 1945, to Layton Leroy Wyman Sr. and Claudia Williams in Highlands, Texas, he would spend his years exemplifying his fatherly spirit and duty to all that he held dear. He proudly fulfilled his duty to his country by serving in the US Army as a sniper in the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart and other honors while serving abroad.
A beloved and caring family man, he joins his loving wife, Charlotte Sue Wyman, and his siblings Edna Willis, Luis Ray Williams, Earl Williams, and Billy Clyde Williams in eternity. He is remembered fondly by his children, Talina King, Rhnea Chin, and Christine Wyman; with his legacy living on through his grandchildren: Karina King, Tiffany King, Emma Chin, Max Chin, Nicholas Hockless, his great-grandchild, Riley Elizbeth Sue Hockless, and his siblings Shirley Adams and Lucrecia Pearl Brown.
In his time, Layton could be seen in his element: fixing and deconstructing machines and vehicles. When his kids were young, he also both assembled their toys and fixed the broken ones. In his own shop, he had parts for 18-wheelers, forklifts, and all manner of equipment. Even hosting an impressive collection of guns that he treasured and many of which he built himself. Of the machinery, most he had taken apart himself, all so that he could put them back together better than before. His passion for his craft was displayed in every piece he held.
As a protective family man, he had an attitude of taking what came and helping whenever he was called to. Whether it be early in the morning or late in the evening, he was ready to go and help his family with whatever they needed. He was known to voice his thoughts, speaking as freely as he displayed his care for his loved ones.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Layton leaves behind fond memories of his life. His life continues in everything that he did and said, and in the family that he held dear.
