La Verne Howell Lenzo's Obituary
La Verne Howell Lenzo passed away February 22, 2021, in Webster, TX, at the age of 77. She will always be remembered for her strong work ethic, her positive attitude, and her colorful sense of humor. La Verne was born on January 26, 1944, to Mallie V. Howell and LaRue Ellis. She was a Furr High School graduate, class of 1963. She began her career at the Royal Café as a waitress and worked several part-time jobs. She obtained a secretarial job for the Texas Music Educators Association where she met her husband, Joseph F. Lenzo, Jr. After the death of her husband in 1978, La Verne was a secretary for various temporary agency services, studied for her real estate license while working for ERA Manross and Anderson, then worked as a secretary for Brown and Root/Haliburton. For many years, she also worked a second job as a sales representative for Wal-Mart and Palais Royal. Afterwards, she worked ten years as a Career Counselor at San Jacinto College, North campus, and then she retired in 2009. La Verne's extracurricular activities included, acting in community plays, attending Toastmasters meetings, and she was a Christian member of many non-denominational churches. La Verne is survived by Daughters: Linette Lenzo, Leneese Bales and husband David; a Son, Joe Lenzo III, and wife Shannon; Grandchildren: Tony Lenzo, Jeremy Eubanks, Dillon Tarver, Rebecca Lenzo, William Fuqua, Aaron Lenzo, Nolan Fuqua, and Cody Tarver; Great Grandchildren: Scarlet Lenzo, Izabelle Lenzo, and Tony Lenzo, Jr.; Brothers, Johnny Ellis and wife Diana, Charles Ellis and wife Carolyn, Paul Ellis and wife Lisa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
