Mr Kenneth Paul Reed's Obituary
Kenneth Paul 'KP' Reed passed away at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, October 15, 2007 at the age of 73. He was born January 4, 1934 in Yantis, Texas to parents, Ellis and Joyce Reed. He attended school and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yantis. Ken was a Decorated Veteran of the Korean War in the Army's Artillery Division and honored with the Korean Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After an Honorable Discharge, he spent 23 years with Brown & Root and another 12 years with M.W. Kellogg ' KCI, Inc. as a Construction Superintendent over Heavy Lifts, Rigging and Iron Working departments and some years with S & B Engineering before retirement. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Joyce Reed; brother Norman Reed; nephew, James Alcorn; brother-in-law, Gilbert Alcorn; grandparents, Ike and Annie Coker, Francis and Alpha Omega Reed. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cari; daughter, Gerri Kiffe and her husband, Buddy of Leesburg, Texas; two grandsons, LnCpl Jansen Kiffe of Camp Lajeune, North Carolina and Chance Kiffe of Leesburg Texas. Also, survived by three sisters, Willo Dean Alcorn of Lone Star, Texas, Jo Nell Boyd and her husband, Thurman of Mineola, Texas and Flo Dell Harwell and her husband, Bill of Gun Barrel City, Texas. He is also survived by seven nephews and one niece. Ken was loved and admired by many co-workers and friends, especially his close buddy, Gearl Murray. The family would like to express their appreciation to Ken's caregiver, Mary Miller. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
