Kenneth Gene Johnson's Obituary
Kenneth Gene Johnson, 73, of Waynesville, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at his home of 20 years in Crosby, TX. His wife, Connie and grandson, Cody, were by his side. Kenneth Johnson was born in Waynesville, MO to John David and Irene Mildred Johnson on February 16, 1947.
Ken enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 where he began his career of service and dedication of 21 years to his country. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received several awards and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Commendation Medal (2d Oak Leaf Cluster), Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5), and the NCO Professional Development Ribbon.
After his military retirement, he continued his service and dedication as a Maintenance Supervisor for Monument Chemical for 21 years. He was well respected among his coworkers, mentored those who were seeking advancement and was a dedicated employee who prided himself to service.
He married Connie Gutierrez on March 14, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV, after 9 years of courtship.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, John David & Irene Johnson, his sister, Katherine Johnson and in-laws Julio and Sandra Gutierrez.
Ken is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Connie Johnson; his son Kenny Johnson Jr. and his wife Sarah Johnson, Darrell Fullerton and his wife Nikkiah Wong, Angie Moore, Ricky Hernandez and his wife Linda Hernandez. Nine (9) grandchildren Matthew Hernandez and wife Stefani Hernandez, Cody Moore, Nicolas Moore, Victoria Moore, Isabella Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Samantha Johnson, Justin Johnson and Robert Fullerton. Six (6) great-grandchildren, Alexander Hernandez, Aubrey Hernandez, Autumn Hernandez, Atlas Hernandez, Marley Moore, and Ella Grace Hernandez. Siblings Harold Johnson, Betty Fletcher, Linda Tool, and Ruth Stone.
Pallbearers: Kenny Johnson Jr., Ricky Hernandez, Darrell Fullerton, Matthew Hernandez, Cody Moore, and Nicolas Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers: Angie Moore (standing in on behalf of Victoria Moore), Isabella Hernandez, and Samantha Johnson.
A time of gathering will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for family and friends at the San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 23, 2020 at San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park with Ulysses C. Longoria of New Life Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial services will follow at San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
