Julie E. Malapitan's Obituary
Julie Espadilla Malapitan passed away at her home in Channelview on January 15, 2012 at the age of 94. She is survived by her children, Ronaldo, Renato, Leticia, Nestor and Cesar and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fabian Malapitan and granddaughter, Jenna Kristin Malapitan.
Born on July 9, 1917 in Gubat, Sorsogon, Philippines, she was the last survivor of 9 siblings. She married Fabian Malapitan and raised their 5 children in Caloocan City, Philippines. She and Fabian immigrated to the United States in 1976 and subsequently became naturalized U.S. citizens, living in Chicago, Illinois for a number of years before moving to Channelview, Texas shortly after her husband's retirement. Julie was a devout Catholic and was an active member of the Catholic Women's League in their local parish in Caloocan City. She has been a registered parishioner of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Channelview since her move to Texas.
Julie was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loves to be surrounded by family. She was a great cook who, for many years, kept the family ties close by preparing a weekly luncheon for her children and grandchildren after Sunday morning Mass. She enjoyed gardening and did quite a bit of traveling with her husband before finally settling down in Channelview. Visitation will begin on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary and Service led by Fr. Bruce Noble, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 827 Sheldon Road, Channelview, Texas. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial to be officiated by Fr. Arnel Barrameda and Fr. Bruce Noble will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church followed by the Rite of Committal at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
