Judith Land-Byrd's Obituary
Judith Land Byrd, a cherished resident of Deer Park, passed away on May 18, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on April 2, 1944, in DeQuincy, Louisiana, Texas, to Christy and Gladys Land of DeQuincy, Louisiana, Judith’s life was a testament to her love for her family and community.
She shared her life with Don Byrd, whom she married on September 11, 1999, in La Porte. Judith dedicated many years to serving as a food service worker for the Deer Park and Pasadena Independent School Districts, where she nourished the bodies and hearts of countless students.
A devout member of the Second Baptist Church of La Porte, Judith’s voice graced the choir, and her hands were always ready to volunteer wherever help was needed. Her love for cooking, baking, and discovering new recipes was only surpassed by the joy she found in attending church gatherings and spending quality time around the kitchen table with her siblings and family after church.
Judith’s legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her daughter Melissa Lewis of Baytown, her sons Kevin Hoffman of Pasadena, Texas, and David and Ellen Hoffman of Unionville, Tennessee, as well as many nephews and nieces who held a special place in her heart.
Her life was also blessed with grandchildren who will carry forward her memory: Alexandria Hoffman, Jacob Hoffman, Zachary Hansen, Joseph Parish, Joshua Lewis, Malcome Hoffman, and Michael Hoffman.
