Jose Victor Bonilla Sr.'s Obituary
In the evening hours of January 3, 2020, God saw fit to call the spirit of Jose Victor Bonilla Sr., 83 to his heavenly home. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two siblings: Ramiro de la Cruz and Benny Corona.
Victor was born to Vulfrano Bonilla and Maria Trinidad Gonzalez on Tuesday, July 28, 1936 in McAllen, Texas. Victor was raised by his beloved grandparents, Jose Gonzalez and Christina G. Gonzalez. He was the eldest of 12 siblings.
At the age of 19, he married Margarita Saenz Bonilla in McAllen, Texas on June 17, 1956. The couple lived in McAllen, Chicago, and eventually settled in Houston, TX in 1963 with their six children: Jose Victor Bonilla Jr., Sylvia Bonilla Tellez, Edwardo (Ed) Bonilla, Margarita (Margie) Pinon, Pablo (Paul) Bonilla, & Ricardo (Rick) Bonilla.
As a young man, he worked as a machinist and a driver. Victor was known for having a feisty nature, direct personality, and deep passion for music. He brought his guitar to family events and loved to sing and play music. He had a big heart and helped whenever there was a need.
He is survived by his 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, & 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Ray de la Cruz, Benito Corona, Martin Corona, Melecio Corona, Jose Matias Corona, Maria Rosalinda Corona, Maria Lucila Corona, Jovita Corona, and Dora Corona.
His death was sudden. However, he will forever be missed by all those who knew him.
His family will be hosting his memorial service on Sunday, January 12, 2020. Pastor Donnie Simpson will officiate. The information is as follows:
