John Fayne Wimberly, 67, passed from this life into his eternal home on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Houston, Texas, with his loved ones at his side. He was born on January 17, 1946 in Houston to Sherman and Alma Wimberly. He is preceded in death by his sister Marilyn, his Father and Mother, and his brothers Steven and Dueward. He is survived by his son Jason and wife Bobbi of Conroe, Texas; daughter Alisa McCusker and husband Rich of Humble, Texas; sister Carolyn Long and husband Bob of Humble, Texas and sister Sharron Powell and husband BJ of Port Mansfield, Texas; grandchildren Jessica, Randall, Zach, and Kate; several nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
He graduated from Steven F. Austin University and obtained two masters degrees in school administration and counseling. His career was spent in teaching and counseling in public schools, state prison systems and the Veterans Administration.
John served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era.
John had a passion for people and ministry, music and singing. He was a precious son, a proud and loving Father and Grandfather, a beloved brother and a dear uncle. He was a life-long, faithful friend to many who had met and worked with him over the years.
He was always on his own agenda, with a huge heart full of love, a crooked smile, a quirky joke and a passion for singing. He will forever be in our hearts and heaven's sounding sweeter all the time.
