John "Benny" Rollins Sr.'s Obituary
John “Benny” Rollins Sr., 68, of Houston, Texas was born on June 6, 1950 in Eunice, Louisiana and passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
Benny was the fourth of five children to parents, Agnes and G.B. Rollins. He lived in Houston for the majority of his life, from 1951 until his passing. Benny attended and was a graduate of Galena Park High School, and shortly after began his career as a switchman for Port Terminal Railroad.
On June 10, 1972, Benny and Charlotte Stork Rollins were married. After 41 years of service in the railroad industry, Benny retired and dedicated his time to his grandchildren and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing, trips to the casinos were also a pleasant pastime. Benny and Charlotte took many “road trips” and vacations to various places across the country. He always had an open door to family and friends in need, you could never find a kinder soul.
Benny is preceded in death by his son, John Benny Rollins Jr.; parents, G.B. and Agnes Rollins; fathers-in-law, Charles Stork and B.E. Perry; sister-in-law, Junice Garmon; and brother-in-law, Buddy Neece. He is survived by his wife Charlotte Stork Rollins; daughter, Amanda and husband Mike Lewellyn; brothers, George (Donna) and Michael (Connie); sisters, Kathleen Hutto (Angus) and Patsy Neece; grandchildren, Hoss, Hayleigh, Derek, Nick, Gavin, Emma, Reese, John III, and Katie; great-granddaughter, Makenna; mothers-in-law, Lillie Perry and Lorene Stork; sisters-in-law, Judy Garmon (Dickie) and Loeva Perry; brother-in-law, Benny Perry; daughters-in-law, Deanna Baggett, Mary Whatley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at San Jacinto Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. A visitation will continue on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 9:00am to 10:00am at San Jacinto Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 10:00am.
