Mr. John Anthony Martinez, II's Obituary
Private John Anthony Martinez II enlisted in the United States Army in July of 2016. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advance Individual Training at Fort Benning, GA, and was awarded the Primary Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 19D (Cavalry Scout). Private Martinez was assigned to the 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS. He served in Apache Troop as a dismount for training rotation 17-06 at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, CA, in March and April 2017.
Private Martinez’s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
Private Martinez is survived by his mother Bernadette Perez, father John Martinez, sisters Leslie Martinez, Mercedes Martinez, Jennifer Martinez, and Desiree Martinez, all of whom are from Houston, TX.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm, with the funeral service at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at San Jacinto Funeral Home. John will be laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park with full military honors.
