Mr. Jimmy Wayne Tarver Sr.'s Obituary
Jimmy Wayne Tarver Sr., 70, was born in Natchez, Mississippi on July 23, 1947 to parents Bernice and James Tarver and was peacefully welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord on Saturday November 11, 2017.
Jimmy was the third of four children. He attended Channelview schools and Lee College where he earned his degree in computer programming. After graduation, he began his career as an elevator technician and after 24 years retired in 1994.
Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1970, earning the rank of E4. While in service, Jimmy received the National Defense Service Medal. He was saved and baptized at Cody Baptist Church in Baytown, TX and recommitted his life again at the age of 68. The most important events in his life were the birth of his children and later grandchildren. Jimmy will be remembered for being full of life and bringing fun wherever he was. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an active member of the VFWA. His children will always associate “Gypsy” by Fleetwood Mac to their loving father.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew Tarver and Bernice Elizabeth Tarver; step-mother, Mary Tarver; and sister, Glenda Brooks. He is survived by his three children, Angie Tarver, Stephanie Baker, and B.J. Tarver (Susan); sisters, Geri Hodges, Debbie Gobert (Smiley); brothers, Benny Taylor and Robert Taylor; grandchildren, Cody Kuepers (Sierra), Chelsea Kuepers, Philip Baker, Hunter Tarver, Gregg Tarver; great-grandchildren, Cameron Preston, Dylan Pelham, and Rosealyn Kuepers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be held at the San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 11:30am. A graveside service will follow on grounds at San Jacinto Memorial Park.
