Jerry Eugene Simmons' Obituary
Jerry Eugene Simmons, 78, passed away on June 20, 2023 at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was the husband of Sheron Kay Simmon. They shared 58 years of marriage together.
Born in Effingham Illinois, he was the son of Dorothy and Fay (PeeWee) Simmons. As a child, he moved to Texas. Later in life, he began a painting and sandblasting career in Houston and surrounding area industries. Due to the unknown dangers at that time, he became ill with a lung disease at the age of 29.
He was a member of Twinland Missionary Baptist Church following accepting Christ into his life. He played an active role in the church activities and held the position of assistant treasurer. Jerry enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He loved being at his property in East Texas hunting, especially when his family was with him. Jerry was a real jokester, loved changing or making up song to put a smile on peoples faces.
He is survived by his wife (soulmate), Sheron Simmons, daughter, Ricki Simmons and husband, Charles (Chip) Simmons, daughters, Daphne and Lily Simmons and Kristy Simmons and husband, Anthony James Hernandez, son Anthony (AJ) Hernandez and daughter Samantha (Sam) Hernandez. His nephew, Roy Stanton, Jr. (the son he never had) and Roy's wife, April Stanton and Sons, Roy (III) and Stacy Stanton, and Brian (BJ) and Rebekah Stanton and daughter, Lizzie Diehl and Robert Diehl and their grandchildren. Sister, Janet Stanton and daughters Teresa Stanton, Toy Bennett and Joy Stanton and families. Pam and Lee Robichaux, son, Tommy and Michelle Heflin, daughters, Angele and Ryan Burton and Leann and Eddie Ellisor and families. Brother, Bruce Simmons and sisters, Vicki Lynn, Glenda Fay, Susan Gail, Betty June, Martha Jane and Cindy Kaye, Misty and families in Kentucky. Sister-in-Law, Penny Brown and son, Gary Lee Brown.
