Janet Nixon Reynolds' Obituary
Janet Nixon Reynolds - (August 20, 1956 - March 22, 2013) After a courageous battle with cancer, Janet passed away peacefully at the Hospice House in Houston, Texas. Janet was born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised between there and Abbeville, Louisiana. For most of her adult life, Janet lived in Channelview Texas. She became the beloved wife of Bruce Reynolds on March 30, 1983. That union was blessed with twin son, Thomas Reynolds and Stephen Reynolds both of Channelview. She was one of four children born to the late John Nixon and his wife Eva Sam Nixon. She leaves in her passing her sister Jo Ann Nixon of Abbeville, Louisiana; sister Judy Nixon of Grayson, Georgia, brother and sister-in-law John Nixon and Natalie Weathers Nixon of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sisters-in-law Sandra Reynolds, Janice Reynolds of Antigua, brothers-in-law Merdick Reynolds of Houston, Texas, Myron Reynolds and Ludwig Reynolds of Antigua and nieces Joelle Nixon of Abbeville, Louisiana and Sydney Nixon of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She leaves behind also special cousin, Mildred Sam of Houston, Texas and a special aunt, Mabel Robertson of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Janet was a 1974 honor graduate of Holy Rosary Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana. She also earned an undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Houston. Previously employed at Shell Oil Company in Houston, Janet was most recently worked as a science teacher at North Forest Middle School in Houston, Texas. She touched the life of many children, teachers and parents with her wisdom, generosity and sense humor while being a lover of education, hard work and discipline. Her family and friends will remember her as being the one who had her finger on the pulse of what was going on with them. She was always preparing for the next holiday and or family event. Janet personified the love language of service. She loved sending cards and gifts and most especially being of service to her family, friends and community. Her space will not be filled.
