Coach James W. "Jim" Reed's Obituary
James Weldon "Jim" Reed, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 one month short of his seventy-ninth birthday. Mr. Reed was born in Cleburne, TX on November 19, 1932 to Pearcy and Laline Reed. Coach Reed was a member of the first coaching staff when Northshore High School opened in 1963. During his career he was Head Coach at Channelview High School and had been on the coaching staff of various area schools. In January 2012 he and his beloved wife JoAnn Watkins Reed would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. In addition to JoAnn, Jim is survived by their children Teresa Holder and her husband Ronnie and Ronny Reed and his wife Ginger; grandsons Joshua Reed and his wife Anna, Aaron Reed and his wife Andrea, and Micah Reed; a sister, Beth Jackson; brother Don Reed and wife Sallie; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gene Reed, Bobby Reed, Tommy Reed, and Johnny Reed; and his sister Claudia Bass. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at San Jacinto Funeral Home, 14659 East Freeway at Beltway 8 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 AM with Rev. Charles Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
