I worked with James with the Astros. He loved his job at Minute Maid but he loved his family more. He spoke of his daughters often. He was just a good friendly guy who loved to talk. He will be missed.

Mr. Franklin, Was a great guy/man, he coached both my girls during their softball years and made an impact on their life. he was very patient with all the girls he coached and they always remembered him years later!! may you Rest In Peace, Teri Key
I don’t think I have had the privilege of knowing someone like Mr. Franklin. He was always at the JC girls softball field when we were younger either with the team he coached or assisting others. He loved being there for his family. I learned a lot from him and Mrs Franklin, they both were awesome people. I am so blessed to have been a part of the Franklin family. RIP Mr. Franklin & say hello to Mrs Franklin for me!
James was a great man that will be dearly missed. My sisters and I played softball in Jacinto City and he was always there to greet everyone. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. I strictly remember him letting my and my twin sister Sherri go up to the announcer box and help call plays. I have lots of great memories with him and I will miss him dearly.
Pops was such a special guy! Always welcoming us girls into his home, showing up for my pageant (lol), allowing all the popcorn balls to be made in the kitchen (by Kim), and always being such a sweet soul. I know his girls will miss him very much, but love that he is back with their momma. Love, Angie (Falkner) Jatzlau
James loved his Astros along with all if us at Minute Maid. It was a delight to work and to know Mr James. He loved to talk! He will be missed. May you rest in peace James.
My Daddy was the best father/man anybody could have known. He was strong and generous and loving to all. He loved his family dearly. He also never met a stranger and he could talk your ear off. I guess that’s where I get it from. He loved my kids with all his heart and he is gonna be missed everyday. We love ya Pops. Miss ya Daddy.
I worked with James at the Astros for 14 years. I enjoyed sitting at the table with him talking about everything and anything. I will truly miss that. He was a good friend and a great co-worker. My prayers go out to the family. James I will miss you but I know you’re in a better place. Rest In Peace my friend. Judy Simpson
My first year with the Houston Astros was an eventful one at that it was 2017 season. I was apart of the Shooting Star team. I made friends with Mr. James instantly on my first day on the job. He had this kind heart about him that just gravitated me to see him every game and give him a huge hug and talk about his family. I do want to share one moment that I had with Mr. James during the postseason that I remember so vividly. That time was tough for him and he was taking a break and I saw him sitting in a stairwell by himself and I ask him what was going on and he processed to tell me about his health and we sat in the stairwell share sad and happy tear and prayed and discussed my fathers passing. Every moment I saw him was full of smiles and laughter. I wanted to share this photo when I came to see him at his seats in 2019.
