Dad had a great sense of adventure. When he found out about a back road that cut through the high mountains of the talkeetna range into the southern part of the denali range, he took it. Off he and I went. It was a one lane dirt road cut into the side of the mountains for 60 plus mi. .. nice and slow, no guard rail , and a shear drop off ...... some man was broke down on the road , around half way , and we couldn't turn around because the road was too narrow, and there was barely enough room to pass by, he said " you are gonna have to drive it son, " and I did... later coming down the road , as we entered the lower part of the mountain range, the weather was very clear and we could see the valley for 50,60 mi. and we could see "the sleeping lady" a mountain called mt. Susitna... she was so filled with detail it is forever etched in my mind.... lying on her back with arms at her side , fingers , toes , and long hair down to her hips , like God himself buried her with the mountain.... one of many such things I experienced with this man.... I have been with him from the poorest hoods in Houston to the top of the world, to the great Puget sound and back again....there are no words to speak what he means to me..... im looking forward to that blessed day when I will see him again....
