Mr. Harmon Ray Parker's Obituary
Mr. Harmon Parker, 80, was born on September 5, 1935 to the late Lester & Aline Parker in Leesville, Louisiana and passed away on June 13, 2016 in Franklin, Texas.
Harmon was the first of four children and attended Sam Houston High School. After graduation, Harmon began a career as a deck hand on a tug boat, quickly moving up to the position of first mate. He later became a longshore man. Harmon retired in 1991 after serving for 31 years. After retirement, he was raising cattle and fishing. He lived in Leesville, Anahuac, Houston and Marquez. Harmon was a member of Channelview Missionary Baptist and Parkway Baptist.
Harmon enjoyed the company of his brothers and sister. His most important events in his life were the births of his children and grandchildren. Harmon can be described as strong, hard-working, principled and loving. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and working with wood.
Harmon is proceeded in death by his loving parents: Lester and Aline Parker; son: Mark Parker; siblings: Ella Mae Rudolph and Melvin Parker. He is survived by loving children: Daniel Parker and wife Janet, Marla Deloach and Jason Parker; brother: Ronnie Parker; grandchildren: Sarah, Jackson, Markie and John; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Chapel of San Jacinto Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of San Jacinto Funeral Home, with interment to follow in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
