Guillermo A. Mata's Obituary
Guillermo A. Mata, 97, of Houston, Texas, passed away on November 4th, 2022 in Pasadena, Texas. He was born on June 25th, 1925, to Pedro & Isabel Mata in Vernon, Texas.
On January 3rd of 1957 , he married Sofia Mata in Mexico. Together they had 7 children- Jose Luis, Jose Manuel, Guillermo Jr., Sofia, Juana Marie, Laura, and Dario. Guillermo worked as an industrial painter for some time and later retired from Delta Engineering after 35 years. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and the Leon Z. Grayson community center. He enjoyed gardening, playing guitar, and watching the Astros games.
Guillermo is survived by daughters Sofia Castille (Bob), Juana Maria Saavedra, and Laura Mata; his sons Jose Manuel Mata, and Guillermo Mata Jr.; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sofia Mata; sons Jose Luis Mata and Dario Mata; and his grandson Jose Antonio “Tony” Mata.
