Glenna Mae Rowe's Obituary
Glenna Mae Drumm Rowe was born in Staples, Texas, on March 18, 1934 to Carol Drumm and Georgia Alice Little Drumm, and passed away on January 15, 2020.
She was a 1953 graduate of Milby High School in Houston, Texas. In June 1955, she graduated from the University of Houston College of
Business Administration after completing a 50-class hour Vocational Fire Insurance Distributive Education Course. While Glenna worked as a typist / secretary, she was introduced by a coworker to the love of her life,
William “Bill” Rowe. After a brief engagement, she and Bill were married in Jacinto City, Texas on February 11, 1956. Glenna was the epitome of a Godly wife and mother. She loved Bill passionately and was the
cornerstone of their family and an invaluable asset to Bill in his life and career. Bill and Glenna were married for 63 years before his death in 2019.
Glenna was the ultimate stay-at-home mom and homemaker. The dedicated care of her husband and children is matched by no other. When her youngest child started kindergarten, she began working part-time as secretary for North Shore Baptist Church. Glenna also taught kindergarten in the church private school, was nursery coordinator for many years, was Director for the Cubbies in the church AWANA program, was active in the PTA at Green Valley Elementary School and involved in the church Youth program. Glenna was a mentor and encourager to many young mothers in the church, graciously sharing her time, wisdom and experience. In her role as Nursery Coordinator, she was a positive influence on and cherished by many
church kids who lovingly called her Nena.
Glenna was an amazing representation of caring for family. With loving heart and giving spirit, she was caregiver in her home for her father-in-law, Jasper Rowe; aunt, Lurline Little; mother, Alice Mayhall; and auntby-marriage, Edna Little. She took care of these loved ones over many years. Glenna was a stellar example to her children of godly love and sacrifice.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, William H. Rowe; mother, Georgia Alice Drumm Mayhall; stepfather, J.D. Mayhall; brother Melvin Drumm and wife Jean Drumm; sister Edna Hale and husband Chuck
Hale.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Malana Shumaker; brother-in-law Curt Baca; daughter Brenda Rowe Gunder; daughter Ronda Smith and husband Blanton Smith; son Del Rowe and wife Judy Rowe; son Kent
