Mrs. Gladys A. Ransom's Obituary
Gladys Alicia Ransom, 83, was born on March 9, 1934 in David, Chiriquí, Panama to parents Antonio and Vicenta Moreno and went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was the first of three children. She earned her degree in teaching and later dedicated her time as a housewife and mother, after marrying her sweetheart Jimmy R. Ransom. The most important events in her life were marrying her loving husband, the birth of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Among the important events in her life was Gladys’s decision to leave her country to begin a life in the United States.
Gladys was a strong and passionate woman, and was known to be playful, eccentric, and funny. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and dancing. Gladys loved upbeat music that put a dance in her step. One of her favorite songs is “Panameno, Panameno, Panameno, Tambor de la Alegria”, and as a proud patriot loved the song “Proud to Be an American” by Lee Greenwood.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jimmy R. Ransom, and her mother, Vicenta Moreno Guerra.
She is survived by her children, Anna Campbell (Gary Cannavo), Christian Ransom (Tina), Jenny Barnard; grandchildren, Stephen Barnard (Kelsie), Brian Campbell (Julie), Michael Campbell, Caitlin Ransom, Krysta Daricek; great-granddaughters, Brenna, Scarlette, and Roslyn; sister, Lila Ames (Bob); brother, Antonio Moreno; nieces, Gabriela Ames and Indira Cedeño; nephews, Jaime Moreno (Tim) and Antonio Moreno; as well as her beloved cousins, Celia Campbell (and family), Evidelia Ortiz, Carmen Jara, Lucrecia Duncan (and family), as well as many beloved nephews, cousins, and other beloved family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 2:00pm- 4:00 pm at the San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel in Houston, TX. A Celebration of Gladys’s Life will begin at 4:00 pm following visitation on Sunday October 15, 2017. The Ransom family welcomes family and friends to join them for reception and fellowship immediately following the service on Sunday at the Eastside Free Will Baptist Church 8825 CE King Parkway Houston, TX, 77044. A graveside service will take place at Houston National Cemetery at 9:00am on Monday, October 16, 2017. Attendees are to arrive in Lane 1.
