Gladys Barrington's Obituary
Gladys Barrington 98, of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on February 5, 2026, in Humble, Texas.
She was born on October 10, 1927, to Ace and Mary Frances Dannelley in Samson, Alabama. She was the second to the last child of six brothers and one sister. Her family eventually moved to Brightstar, Arkansas when she was a young child. She attended Brightstar High School.
On July 31, 1946, she married the love of her life, J.B. Barrington, in Texarkana, Arkansas. They moved to Houston, Texas where together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and family. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership which left an example of what marriage and commitment should look like.
Gladys was a devoted wife, mother and granny who dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a home where everyone felt welcome. She enjoyed reading her bible, gardening, sewing, fishing, but found the most joy cooking for her family. She loved family gatherings no matter what the occasion, family always came first. Strong in her faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, Gladys lived with joy and purpose, trusting God’s plan and sharing His love through kindness and compassion.
Preceding her in death are her husband J.B. Barrington of 59 years; her daughter Shirley Murrell; brothers Bill Dannelley, Curtis Dannelly, George Dannelley, Washington Dannelley, Daniel Dannelley, O.K. Dannelley, and sister Joy Barrington.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Upshaw and Roger Goose of Marble Falls, Texas; her daughter Sandra Farmer and Charles Alexander of Houston, Texas; her son Nickey Barrington and Gina Barrington of Humble, Texas; son-in-law Jim Murrell; her ten beloved grandchildren, Dedra Bouffard, Heath Barrington, Hayley Peavy, Kyle Farmer, Molly Sellers, Chase Barrington, Andrew Goose, Sarah Goose, Michael Alexander, Leanna Alexander, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Officiating the services for Gladys is Ken Faust.
Pallbearers for Gladys are Heath Barrington, Chase Barrington, Kyle Farmer, Blake Bouffard, Brooks Bouffard, and Shay Sellers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Rosemont Assisted Living and Memory Care staff for the love and care they gave mom over the past eight years as well as the staff at Bayou City Hospice. YOU are angels on earth!
Gladys never met a stranger and had a gift of making everyone feel special and loved. Gladys was truly one of a kind and showed us all what love is. There is nothing better than to be loved... She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
