Georgia Murrell Liggett's Obituary
Georgia Murrel Liggett, 95, died on October 27, 2018 in a Hospice care facility after suffering a debilitating stroke a week earlier.
Born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, she was the daughter of H.E. Higdon and Violet Manwaring. Georgia moved to Oklahoma with her family to live in Homer, just outside of Ada, Oklahoma. She attended college for short period of time and in 1947, in Ada, she married Chester Liggett. They enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage together. Georgia was very creative and loved working with her hands, on crafts of many kinds. Over the years she enjoyed: ceramics, refinishing antique furniture, oil painting, quilting, macramé, sewing, and embroidery. She loved to make items for Christmas such as, Santa Clauses, wreaths and ornaments. She would scour resale stores and antique shops looking for items to restore and repurposes. She was always working on something. Georgia is survived by her four sons: Danny, Mike, Keith and Jim. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at 3 PM at the South Drive Baptist Church at 15229 South Dr. Channelview, TX.
