Francisco P. Hernandez Jr. (Ponch), 69, of Channelview, TX, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Francisco was born on October 16, 1953 to Antonia and Francisco Hernandez in the city of Tampico, Mexico. Francisco graduated from Lyford High School in 1972 and went to college. After graduation, he worked in Human Resources for over 35 years in the oil and gas industry. Francisco was passionate about working with people and never met a stranger. He made sure everyone was taken care of and would give you the shirt off of his back, even if he had just met you. In 1981, he met Sherri at Cactus, where he worked. They were married on September 3, 1983. Francisco and Sherri went on to have two children, Laura and Loren. Francisco had a passion for music. He loved to play the guitar and sing. He knew every song in the book. He loved to travel and made friends in every city he visited. He loved his grandchildren and was the best Pop Pop around. He read books, gave lawn mower rides, and even swam in the kiddie pool to make them happy. He was uncle Ponchi to many, even those who were not his nieces and nephews. He was the life of the party and loved by all. Francisco was preceded in death by his father Francisco V. Hernandez, sister Connie Reyna and brother-in-laws Benito Reyna and Francisco C. Hernandez. He is survived by his wife Sherri Hernandez of Channelview, TX, children daughter Laura Holder and Scott of Crosby, TX, son Loren Hernandez and Carla of Houston, TX, grandchildren Francisco and Nelsy, sisters Linda Hernandez, Josie Martinez and Rose Daughtry, brothers Guiermo Hernandez, Jimmy Vega, Sergio Pacheco, mother Antonia Hernandez of Lyford, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
