Mr. Eugene G. Buchanan's Obituary
Gene was born February 18, 1929 and passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the age of 88.
Gene was a resident of Humble, Texas at the time of his passing. He lived many years in Channelview, Texas and Southeast Houston.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Buchanan in 1996 of whom he was married 44 years. He was blessed with a second wife Joyce Buchanan who was his high school sweetheart and was married 20 years.
He is survived by his four daughters and one son: Lorena Purswell and husband Ozell, Lynn Hertzberg and husband Roger, Darla Moore and husband Greg, Dee Lively and husband Troy, and Lee Higginbotham. His 10 grandchildren, Ron Purswell, Misty Robertson , Ashley Montgomery, Courtney Lees, Kailey and Stephanie Moore, Aby Hertzberg, Ethan and Steven Lively and Joey Higginbotham. His 8 greatgrandchildren, Nathan, Austin, Harper, and Jack Montgomery, Olivia Lees, Brenham, Wyatt, and Abilene Lively,
Gene attended Sam Houston High School and was also in the Navy where he played football. He was a Freemason for 50 years. He worked as a machinist for Hughes Tool Company for more than 20 years.
He loved serving the Lord and working in the church and telling all he could about the love of Jesus and his saving grace. He loved fishing and hunting and spending time at Lake Sam Rayburn. He loved the Astros and watching them win the Pennant, he was an avid fan!
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm, with A Celebration of Life Service at 12:30 pm in the Chapel at San Jacinto Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, Eugene will be laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park.
