Ms. Ethel Dean "G" Walker's Obituary
Ethel Dean “G” Walker would like to let you know that her work here is done! She received a call with an offer she cannot refuse for a highly sought after assignment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge signing bonus, a reunion with family and friends, and perks you cannot imagine that lasts for an eternity. This new role takes her to a place that is very, very clean, has many seafood and Mexican restaurants, doesn’t allow pets (in her section only), and allows her to take a break from keeping up with all of her grandchildren and children at all times. The food is delicious and you never gain an ounce, making it possible for her to reestablish her beauty pageant career. She left strict instructions to her daughter and grandchildren to make sure everyone celebrates her accomplishment in this current mission as it has been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated!
G was ahead of her time and was an early example of a strong woman often being referred to as “The President”. She raised a gifted, independent daughter and four grandchildren to love the Lord, love your family, and be your own person at all times. She reminded her children to “know who are and to know whose you are”.
G left with a peaceful send off Thursday, April 13th surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 21, 1921 to Rex and Allie Pitman in Bald Prairie, Texas. She attended Bremond High School and later married Leo Walker in 1944. Leo was the love of her life, and they raised two children Jack Edward and Donna Marie in Houston Texas. She was no stranger to service and duty and was a military wife during WWII.
She faithfully attended Channelview Church of Christ and most recently Wallisville Road Church of Christ and was the moral center of her family. She raised children and grandchildren to make God the center of their life for she knew that Legacy is not leaving something FOR people, rather it’s leaving something IN people.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and soul mate of 62 years, Leo Walker and cherished son Jack Edward Walker. She is survived by her adoring daughter Donna Murphy and husband Mike Murphy and Daughter-in- law Barbara Walker Kubiak, Grandchildren Wendy Walker Messmann and husband Boyd Messmann, Jill Walker Blair-Turner and husband Sean Blair-Turner, Amy Murphy Sterling and husband Scott Sterling, Clint Murphy and wife Sherry Murphy, and Cathi Murphy. Great grandchildren Luke Sterling, Blaire Messmann, Laurel Sterling, Devan Messmann and Noah Allen. Two Great-great Grandchildren as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
The goal of G’s life was not to live forever but to create something that would live forever, and she has done that through the lives of her decedents. We hope that you will join us to celebrate a job well done and her recent eternal promotion, Tuesday, April 18th at 1:00pm at San Jacinto Funeral Home 14659 East Freeway, Houston 77015. Visitation will begin at 12pm with service to follow at 1:00pm.
