Ervin was a graduate of Galena Park High School. He immediately followed in the footsteps of his father and older brother in the IBEW Local Union 716 Apprenticeship Program. He spent his career as a Journeyman Electrician working most of that time for the City of Houston. He always spoke fondly of his work family and missed them after his retirement.
Ervin was an avid outdoorsman. He spent much time on the water at Sam Rayburn, but hauled in trophies at El Salto, Lake Falcon as well as the Amazon River. His personal best Largemouth weighed in at 11.8 lbs. and his personal best Peacock Bass weighed in at 19.7 lbs. Ervin and Phyllis traveled and had many adventures including their fishing trips, white water rafting and zip lining trips, vacationing in Hawaii, skiing in Angelfire, NM and kicking up their heels in Nashville (he even sang at the Grand Ole Opry). Ervin was always the life of the party. There would always be another round of drinks coming while he regaled audiences with his tales of times gone by.
Ervin loved his extended family and many friends. The parties he and Phyllis hosted at their home in Mont Belvieu were legendary and not an affair one wanted to miss! He is gone from this world too soon but leaves behind quite a legacy and stories too numerous to count.
