Mrs. Eloise S. Cowart's Obituary
Mattie Eloise Smith Cowart, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-granedmother, sister, aunt, entered Heaven's gate on Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was born on September 29, 1923 in Crockett, TX to the late Howard A. and Ludie (Pyle) Smith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, D.F. (Frank) Cowart. Eloise grew up in Highlands, TX and graduated from Robert E. Lee H.S. in Baytown. She played bugle and was a sergeant in the Brigadiers drill team. Eloise, a devoted member of Park Place Baptist Church since 1948, was dedicated to serving by teaching Children's Sunday School for over 25 years. She also sang in the Keen Choir several years and was a member of the Jubilee Class. Outside of church, she was an Avon Representative for over 40 years. She was dearly loved and respected by all her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Eloise is survived by her daughter, Sherron Ann Fowlkes and son, Danny Glen Cowart and his wife, Carol; grandchildren, Jason R. Fowlkes and his wife, Jennifer, James Frank Fowlkes, Kimberly Goodrich and her husband, Grant, and Michael Cowart; great grandson, Jacob Ryan Fowlkes; sisters, Hazel Juanita Pierce, Jo Ann Turner and her husband, Bill, Willie Ruth Barnes; aunt, Pearl Barcelo. She also leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
