Ellen Fowler Betencourt, born on January 24, 1945, in Santa Monica, California, to Johnie George Fowler and Ellen Louise Lang, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, in Humble, Texas. Ellen’s life was a testament to love, family, and joy.
Ellen married the love of her life, Jack Betencourt, Jr., and together they built a beautiful family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ellen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Jack Betencourt, Jr., her cherished daughter Sandra Midkiff, her dear son Jack Betencourt III, her sister Geri Stafford, and her brothers Ricky Fowler and George Fowler.
She is survived by her loving daughter Jackie Lynn Drilling, her brothers Dwayne Fowler and Gary Fowler, her grandchildren Tonya Turner and her husband Tamar, Brandy Laxen, and Robbie Alaniz, and her great-grandchildren Keegan Turner and his wife Lexie, Kamryn Turner, Trevyn Turner, Torie Turner, Brayden Laxen, and Bailey Laxen. Ellen also leaves behind her great-great-grandchildren Tyson Turner and Vivian Turner, who will carry forward her legacy of love and warmth.
Ellen’s early years were marked by a passion for bowling, but as her family grew, they became the center of her world. She loved taking her family out to eat and hosting gatherings at her home, creating countless cherished memories. Ellen’s love for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren was boundless.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as visiting casinos, playing bingo, and indulging in her favorite sweets. Ellen’s vibrant spirit and loving nature touched everyone who knew her.
Ellen lived a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and togetherness will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
