Elda Alicia Garza, 86, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, in Houston Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Apolonio Rodríguez and Maria del Carmen García.
Elda was born in the Hacienda Pontezuelas in General Terán, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on April 30, 1937. Together with her sisters, she was raised from infancy through her adolescent years in the Hacienda Santa Engracia helping her parents in the family business. Later they moved to the city of Monterrey, where she continued to help her parents. They frequently returned to Terán for festivals and other family events. During one of these events, she met Aaron E. Garza, who would later become the love of her life. On October 8, 1966, they were united in Holy Matrimony. After the birth of their first child (Diana), they decided to try their luck in the United States. They permanently established themselves in Houston, Texas, where God blessed them with two more children, Luis Aaron and Alejandro, and eventually five beautiful granddaughters.
Elda was always there to help her family and her friends in both Houston and in Mexico. She was a kindhearted woman, who carried herself with grace and always placed her trust in God. She spoke with compassion and affection and saw only the goodness in everyone. She had such a shining personality, and her presence brought such a joy to all who came to know her. She was the heart of the family, and she leaves a true legacy for her family and friends.
Elda is survived by her husband Aaron E. Garza, whom she was married to for 57 years, her daughter Diana Cortina, sons Luis Aaron Garza (Marian), Alejandro Garza (Shelley), her granddaughters Jessica Adriana and Jeanette Alyna Cortina, Ruby Carmen, Danica Adelle and Marisa Lenore Garza, her sisters Blanca (Manuel Guerra+), Olga (Ausencio Puente), Yolanda (Raúl Chavarria+), and many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered with love and affection always. We give thanks to everyone who supported us and stood by her side during her last days.
Services:
Visitation will be on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, with the Rosary at 7:00 pm, in the Chapel of San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Channelview, Texas.
Burial services will be at 11:30 am at San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home.

Elda Alicia Garza, 86, fue llamada a la casa del Padre el 8 de Junio de 2023, en Houston Texas.
Ella fue precedida en la muerte por sus padres Apolonio Rodríguez y Maria del Carmen García.
Elda nació en la Hacienda de Pontezuela en General Terán, Nuevo Leon, Mexico el 30 de Abril de 1937. Junto a sus hermanas, se crió desde la infacia hasta sus anos de adolescencia en la Hacienda Santa Engracia ayudando a sus padres en el negocio familiar. Más tarde se mudaron a la ciudad de Monterrey en donde continuó ayudando a sus padres. Regresaban con frecuencia a Terán para festivals y otros eventos familiares. Durante uno de estos eventos, conoció a Aarón E. Garza, quién más tarde se convertiría en el amor de su vida. El 8 de Octubre de 1966, se unieron en su Santo Matrimonio. Despues del Nacimiento de su primer hija (Diana), decidieron probar suerte en los Estados Unidos. Se esteblecieron permanentemente en Houston, Texas, donde Dios los bendijo con dos hijos más, Luis Aarón y Alejandro, y finalmente con cinco hermosas nietas.
Elda siempre estaba allí para ayudar a su familia y a sus amigos tanto en Houston como en México. Era una mujer de buen corazón, que se llevaba a si misma con gracia y siempre confiaba en Dios. Ella habló con compasión y afecto y vio solo la bondad en todos. Tenía una personalidad tan brillante, y su presencia trajo tanta alegría a todos los que llegaron a conocerla. Ella era el corazón de la familia, y deja un legado para su familia y amigos.
A Elda le sobrevive su marido Aarón E. Garza, con quien estuvo casada durante 57 años, y su hija Diana Cortina, hijos Luis Aarón Garza (Marian), Alejandro Garza (Shelley), sus nietas Jessica Adriana y Jeanette Alyna Cortina, Ruby Carmen, Danica Adelle y Marisa Lenore Garza, sus hermanas Blanca (Manuel Guerra+), Olga (Ausencio Puente), Yolanda (Raúl Chavarria+), y muchas sobrinas y sobrinos.
Siempre será recordada con amor y afecto. Damos las gracias a todos los que nos apoyaron y estuvieron a su lado durante sus ultimos días.
Servicios:
Velorio será el Viernes, 16 de Junio de 5:00 a 8:00 pm, con el Rosario a las 7:00 pm, en la Capilla de San Jacinto Memorial Park y Funeral Home.
La Misa funebre será el Sabado, 17 de Junio, a las 10:00 am, en la Iglesia de St Andres en Channelview, Texas.
Los servicios de entierro serán a las 11:30 am en la Capilla de San Jacinto Memorial Park y Funeral Home.
