Mrs. Dorothy Elaine Edwards' Obituary
Dorothy Elaine Edwards, went on to meet the Lord on August 8, 2009. Dorothy was a resident of Houston for 28 years. She was born on March 31, 1941 in the parish of Trelawny, Jamaica. Dorothy spent 28 years of her life in her homeland of Jamaica. During her years as a young adult, she taught in the Jamaican school system, after which she went on to become a Psychiatric nurse. She began her nursing career at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. Dorothy then came to the United States in 1969 where she continued her nursing career. All of her life was spent helping and caring for others, including her immediate family and extended family. Those who knew her, consistently commented on what a joy she was to be around. Many of the calls that were received by the family lamented on what an inspiration she was to everyone she met. She was always positive and upbeat and will be greatly missed by many. No one could have a bad day when they were with her. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Fitzroy Edwards, and her two children, Grace Edwards Young and Lynton Wayne Edwards Sr. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lynton Wayne Edwards Jr. and Logann Alivia Edwards.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff who cared for Dorothy at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
