Dora Sampayo's Obituary
On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, Dora Sampayo, loving mother, sister, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep while surrounded by her family after being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer just 14 days prior.
Dora was born on November 4, 1952 in Matamoros, México to Bonifacio and Francisca (Gallegos) Guzmán. She was the oldest of eight very lucky siblings. Dora loved her family and friends more than anything. She dedicated her life to her children and sacrificed everything to ensure their success. She was a strong and caring person who helped her family and friends in all aspects of their lives. Being a mother was the greatest honor of her life.
Dora was very passionate about cooking, and her meals were legendary. She worked as a nutrition specialist in a local school district for the past 20 years, preparing meals for hundreds of children each day. She loved her job, her colleagues, and serving her students who lovingly referred to her as “Mamá Coco”. Food is how she loved. The kitchen was where she was most confident, where she felt most accomplished, and where she shined.
Dora Sampayo is survived by her oldest daughter Diana Zucknick and her husband Paul, her beloved son Jorge Sampayo, and her cherished daughter Gabriella Sampayo and her partner Kurt McNab. Also left to cherish her memory are 4 of her siblings: Joel Guzmán, Sylvia Rodríguez, Patricia Fisk, Ruth Fisk Medellín and a very large extended family who will all miss her very much.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at San Jacinto Funeral Home & Memorial Park from 10:00 am - 1:00pm, followed by a service in Dora Sampayo’s honor from 1:00pm - 2:00pm.

En Martes, Diciembre 7, 2021, Dora Sampayo, cariñosa madre, hermana y amada amiga, falleció de manera pacífica mientras dormía rodeada de su familia después de haber sido diagnosticada con la etapa cuatro de cáncer de páncreas tan sólo 14 días antes.
Dora nació en Noviembre 4, 1952 en Matamoros, México hija de Bonifacio y Francisca (Gallegos) Guzmán. Ella era la mayor de ocho afortunados hermanos.
Dora amaba a su familia y amigos más que a nada. Dedicó su vida a sus hijos y sacrificó todo para asegurar su éxito. Ella era una persona fuerte y cariñosa que ayudó a su familia y amigos en todos los aspectos de sus vidas. Ser madre fue el honor más grande en su vida.
A Dora le apasionaba cocinar y sus platillos eran legendarios. Trabajó como una especialista de nutrición en una escuela local de distrito durante sus últimos 20 años, preparando platillos para cientos de niños cada día. Ella amaba su trabajo, a sus colegas, y estudiantes quienes de manera amorosa se referían a ella como ¨Mamá Coco¨. Su comida era su forma de amar. La cocina era en donde más se sentía segura, en donde más se sentía exitosa y en donde más brillaba.
A Dora Sampayo le sobreviven su hija mayor Diana Zucknick y su esposo Paul, su amado hijo Jorge Sampayo, y su querida hija Gabriella Sampayo y su pareja Kurt McNab. También se ha dejado para apreciar su memoria a 4 de sus hermanos: Joel Guzmán, Sylvia Rodríguez, Patricia Fisk, Ruth Fisk Medellín y una gran familia, quiénes la extrañarán mucho.
Visita para amigos y familia tomará lugar el Domingo, Diciembre 19, 2021 en San Jacinto Funeral Home de 10:00am - 1:00pm, seguida por un servicio en honor a Dora Sampayo de 1:00pm - 2:00pm.
