Mr. Donald Gene Hicks' Obituary
Donald Gene Hicks was born in Brady, TX on August 24th, 1933. He passed on November 1st, 2017 at the LBJ Hospital in Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lora Hicks and older brother Doyle Hicks and sister-in-law, Betty Hicks. He was father to two daughters, Gaye Lynn Hammonds and Vicki Elaine Carbo and grandfather to John Carbo. His nephew was Gary Hicks and wife Corlis. Nieces were Pam Hicks McGraw, husband Mike, and Cheryl Hicks Mattka, husband Chuck. Don had two great nephews, Brady Hicks, wife Jessica, and Zach Mattka. His great niece was April Lubke. He had one great-great niece, Jenna Lubke, and a great-great nephew, Beckham Lubke.
Don graduated from Milby High School in Houston, Texas. He was drafted into the United States Army in February 1954 and served until February 1956. Don was well known for his automotive skills. He was known for his ability to work on any make and model of vehicle which explained his professional career as a salesman at Montgomery Ward's Automotive Center at Northline Mall in Houston, TX. Don was a member of and attended the Crosby Church Of Christ.
Services for Don will take place on the grounds of San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home. At this time the Hicks family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time, your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
