Daniel Antonio Magnia's Obituary
Daniel Antonio Magnia was born on January 26, 1930 unto Angelo Magnia and Mary Marrigga Magnia. Daniel was the 11th child of 12th children. At a young age, he worked very hard on the farm. In 1947 in Nursery, Texas, Daniel was a general farm hand - planting, cultivating and harvesting cotton and corn. He operated and maintained farm machinery. In 1956, Daniel worked as a laborer and did general farming. Daniel met Betty Schuenemann at a local country dance in Inez, Texas. They married in 1957 and resided in Telferner, Texas. Daniel was inducted into the Army's 30th Infantry Regiment on 12-30-1954 during the Korean War and was a Private First Class. He served until 8-23-1955 and received an Honorable discharge to work on the family farm. Daniel remained in the Army Reserves until 1958. His most significant military duty was as a rifleman and light weapons. He was active as an Inez farmer in 1960. During 1962, Daniel started working for Wendel Construction Company - building roads seven days a week. In 1963, Daniel worked as a janitor at El Campo Independent School District. In 1967, he had a once a week cleaning job at the El Campo Livestock Community Company. He also mowed grass for the Lutheran Cemetary Association. In 1968, he worked for Channel Construction Company. He also worked as an auctioneer. Daniel made a career change in 1970 and started working for Harris County, Precinct 2. After 20 years of service with Harris County, he retired on 1-31-90. Daniel received awards, complimentary letters for safety and for job dedication and loyalty. Daniel enjoyed retirement and stayed active with his large, vegetable garden, busy fixing things in his shop that he built, going dancing, attending auctions and always having projects. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. Daniel leaves behind his daughter, Janice Magnia Golding; son, Vernon Magnia, three grandchildren, Joshua, Candace & Daniel Ryan; four great grandchildren; sisters Rose Tidwell, Annie Pulciani and Emma Miller as well as numerous nephews & nieces. Daniel also leaves behind his wonderful caregivers - Lynell Williams and Amanda Williams of Lynell's Senior Care. His nephews serve as pallbearers: Daylon Magnia, Jerry Buzek, Jimmy Georgie, Robert Bosart, Michael Sturm and Michael Magnia. Funeral service will officated by brother-in-law Bruce Miller. In lieu of flowers, donations can be to the Alzheimer's Society.
