Cory Dwayne Gorka's Obituary
Cory Dwayne Gorka, age 55, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 3, 1969, in Houston, Cory was the cherished son of Eli Gorka Jr. and Glenda Bixler.
On November 21, 2009, Cory married the love of his life, Jessica Gorka, in Houston. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Cory was a dedicated foreman for Harris County Precinct 2, where his work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact.
Cory lived life with heart and grit. He found joy in the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and firing up the grill for a legendary BBQ. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, always ready with a cold beer, a perfectly cooked medium rare steak, and his favorite 80s classic rock blasting through the speakers on a Friday night.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jessica Gorka; his children Brittany Gorka, Gabriella Bernal and TJ Bernal, Jeana Martinez, Ashley Enriquez and Eddie Enriquez, Summer Gutierrez and Eddie Gutierrez, and Zion Gorka; his parents Eli Gorka Jr. and Glenda Bixler and current husband Stephen Bixler; his sisters Christi Gorka, Jackie Galvan, and Jennifer Garcia; his brothers Victor Cervantes, Adam Cervantes and Veronica Cervantes, Michael Cervantes, Antonio Mireles, and Renny Shivendra; and his nine grandchildren Calvin, Brooklynn, Ethan, Zayn, Sebastian, Autumn, Eddie Jr., Oliver, and Everett.
Cory was preceded in death by his sister Robin Gorka; his grandparents Eli Gorka Sr. and Margaret Gorka, Otto Schmidt and Elnora Smith; his grandmother-in-law Dora Vela; his aunts Barbara and Betty Gorka; his uncle Billy Bruening.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
