Clarence Matthews Jr.'s Obituary
Clarence Matthews Jr., 78, of Barett Station, Texas was called home to rest on Friday, January 20,2023. He was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on July 13, 1944, to Clarence Matthews, Sr. and Rosey Lee Madden Matthews.
Clarence graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Baytown, Texas. His day of induction into the United States Army was on November 22, 1963, the day of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, a day he said, he would never forget. He spent time in Korea and received an honorable discharge on October 31, 1969.
Clarence was joined in holy matrimony to Dorothy Auzenne on March 18,1967. From this union two children were born, Mark Durand and Mona Danette.
He worked for Ethyl Corporation for 32 years before his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Barrett Station Bowling League for over 15 years and received numerous awards and patches. His passion was officiating high school basketball and baseball sports and was a member of the SBOA and SBUA.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church 12606 Crosby Lynchburg Rd, Crosby, TX 77532 on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 am with a visitation starting at 8:30 am and a Rosary at 9:30 am.
