Mr. Chester P. Liggett's Obituary
Chester P. Liggett, 92, died on July 28th, 2015 at home after a battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma, he was the oldest son of Chester Perry Liggett Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Liggett.
Chester was a World War 2 veteran who served as a tank commander in Northern Africa and Italy. After the war he became a lineman in Oklahoma. In 1947, in Ada, OK, he married Georgia Higdon and they had 67 wonderful years together. He was a captain of a fire station in Ada and worked toward becoming an electrician, eventually owning his own electrical business for several years. Later he went to work for Brown & Root where he worked for over 20 years as an electrical superintendent on multiple projects.
Over the years he enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing for crappie and golf. Chester was a devote Christian and loved to tell stories from the Bible. He enjoyed working with his hands. After he retired he spent many years building furniture and other items from wood.
Chester is survived by his wife Georgia, four sons: Danny, Mike, Keith and Jim and a brother David “Buck” Liggett. He also leaves behind eight grandkids and 12 great grandkids.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 1st at 3 PM at the Cavalry Church of the Nazarene at 15049 Wallisville Road, Houston, TX.
