Charlie C. Velasquez, born March 3, 1928 to the late Salvador and Susie Velasquez, was called to heaven on the evening of Thursday, February 25, 2016, as he was surrounded by family at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Charlie was battling pneumonia, but most think he finally succumbed to his broken heart after having lost his wife and best friend five years prior.

Upon moving to Houston, Charlie and his family settled in Jacinto City, TX where he lived for the remainder of his life. Anyone who knew Charlie knew how much he loved to tell stories and jokes, which sometimes were one and the same.

He is survived by his children: Charles Richard Velasquez, Cynthia Sue Velasquez-Uresti, Kenneth Lee Velasquez (Anna), Gerald Troy Velasquez; grandchildren: Vincent Van Velasquez (Maria), Amy Annette Erickson (Keith), Audra Halee Uresti, Genesis Alexa Velasquez; great-grandchildren: Weston Walker Erickson, Vincent Anthony Velasquez; siblings: Gilbert Velasquez of Lockhart, Ernest Velasquez of San Antonio, Fred Velasquez of Austin.
