Mr. Bobby T. Garland's Obituary
Bobby T. Garland passed away on July 9, 2009 at the age of 80, in Houston, Texas. Bobby was born on March 30, 1929 in Pelly, Texas. In his early years, he lived in Baytown, Texas and attended Robert E. Lee High School. He has resided in Channelview, Texas for 62 years. Upon leaving high school, Bobby decided to join the Air Force and he served in the military for 10 years where he was stationed at several bases around the country and also abroad in Okinawa, Japan. Bobby continued his service for 30 more years in civilian employment with the Dept. of the Air Force, where he retired as Asst. Fire Chief at Ellington Air Force Base in the Clear Lake area. Bobby also belonged to the C. A. Fortner Lodge # 1304, A.F. & A. M. in Channelview, Texas for many years and served as Worshipful Master there from 1977 - 1978. Bobby is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn E. Garland, Three sons, Bobby S. Garland and friend Regina Britton of Dayton, Texas, Burney D. Garland and daughter-in-law, Lyn Garland of Houston, Texas, Barry A. Garland and daughter-in-law Sheila Eitson of Channelview, Texas, one daughter, Rona L. Horton and husband Joseph F. Horton of Mont Belvieu, Texas. Grandsons Jeremy A. Garland, Cole S. Garland and J. Kris Horton, Two granddaughters Lauren M. Garland and Taylor M. Garland. He is also survived by one sister Barbara Ann Olmsted, one Aunt Hattie Garrison, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bobby was preceded in death by his Mother, Mabel A. Carroll, Father, Frances W. Garland and Stepfather, Kirby H. Carroll, who raised him. He also had two brothers, Steven Carroll and Gary Carroll who passed away before him. While sad in our grief, we, his family, would also like to celebrate the life of Bobby Garland and would like to thank our friends and extended family members for being a part of his life. Visitation will be at San Jacinto Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12th from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be on Monday, July 13th at 2:00 pm with interment following at 3:00 pm. Those serving as pallbearers will be Michael Carroll, Gary Carroll, Troy Bullock, Tim Wade, Joseph Horton and Kris Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Garland and Cole Garland.
