Billy Andrew Wright, 75, passed away at his residence in Houston on August 2, 2008. Mr. Wright was retired from NASA and was a member of the North Shore Lodge 1353 AF&AM. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dessie Fern Read Obituary

Bill was my Papaw and an extraordinary man. He was a proud and loving man, with a wicked sense of humor! He loved each of us with a fierce passion. He would have protected any of us at any cost to him. I'm grateful to have had this man as my grandfather, and for giving me the best man in the world, my father. My Dad was the best Dad anyone could ask for. He loved his family more than anything in this world and there is nothing that he wouldn't do for us. He was funny, witty, handsome, ornory, honest,and many many other wonderful things, but most of all he was the back bone of our family and he loved us, as we did him. I feel so honored to have been able to help take care of him in his last days and I feel blessed to have been at his bedside when he went to meet his Lord and Saviour. What great memories of the house on Redondo and the trouble me and Vikki stayed in but, he was usually pretty easy on us considering some of things we got into. He would always give me help with that old green Charger if I needed anything. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this time of sorrow.

Uncle Bill was my mom's (maggie yates) brother-in-law. I have wonderful memories of he and his boys playing music and singing after thanksgiving dinners. I can see it like it was yesterday...I loved him and have the hope of Jesus Christ that we will see him again. Praying God will carry you through your grief,

I too have great memories of the house on Redondo! Bill always made me feel like I was part of the family and looked after me like I was his daughter. He was a good man! My thoughts and prayer are with you.
I'll never forget Uncle Bill and the fond memories I have of us playing guitars together, laughing & joking with him and seeing that always present grin. I loved my mother's brother and I will miss him. My deepest condolences to Aunt Fern, my cousins and their family.
In his spare time; when he wasn't cutting up, pulling a prank on some unsuspecting victim or being thoroughly entertained by the intense, tongue gnawing concentration of some kid engrossed in a simple task like picking his nose or tying a shoe; Uncle Bill was involved with us. By "us" I mean his children and whoever else happened to be around. He could throw a baseball and football with the best of 'em. Hard as I tried, I never was able to walk on my hands like Uncle Bill. What an influence he was!
Uncle Bill had a look about him that told when a joke or prank was coming. I'd find myself grinning with anticipation because I knew that, whatever was coming, it was going to be good. Then it would be followed by his laughter that came from way down, deep inside. He loved me and I knew it without a doubt and without him ever having to say a word. It showed on his face and in the way he made me feel. He was special that way and family meant more to him than anything. I love him and I miss him.
