Mr. Billy G. Hulsey's Obituary
Billy Gene Hulsey, 90, was born on November 26, 1926 in Wortham, TX to parents Rosa Howell Hulsey and William Dodson Hulsey and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Billy was the fourth of five children. At the age of 16, he began his career at Armco Steel. Billy served in the U.S. Army in 1945 during WW2, attaining the rank of PFC. On July 4th, 1948 Billy married his sweetheart Anna Mary Humphfus. He was a longtime resident of the Northshore section of Houston, TX. Billy retired in 1983 after serving in the steel industry for 41 years.
Billy was a proud member of the Banderas Baptist Church in Houston, TX. In his own words, “Find a church that loves and teaches the bible, and be baptized there.” Billy served as a church deacon and treasurer. His proudest moments in life included leading people to the Lord, his marriage, and the birth of his daughter and later grandson.
Billy will be remembered for his humor, his upbeat personality, for loving the outdoors, and how family-oriented he was. His favorite hobbies included being involved in church activities and worship, golfing, fishing, singing, collecting coffee mugs, and grandparenting. Billy loved to write, he often wrote poems and tracts for witnessing to people, as well as philosophical sayings.
Billy is preceded in death by his siblings, Rex Hulsey, Sammy Hulsey, Joyce Hulsey Morgan, and Elizabeth Fern Hulsey Ely. He is survived by his loving wife Ana Mary Hulsey; daughter, Diana Black; grandson, Bryce Garrett Black; daughter-in-law, Laura Frances; great-grandson, Beau Garrett Black; brother-in-law, John Dennis Cotharn; sister-in-law, Robbie Geraldine Beebe; and nephew, Allen Hulsey Ely.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at the San Jacinto Funeral Home Chapel, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30pm. A graveside service will follow immediately at the San Jacinto Memorial Park in Houston, TX.
