Mrs. Billie Joyce Tibbs' Obituary
Billie Joyce (Wood) Tibbs was born September 7, 1945 to her parents, Alvis and Trudie Wood in Pasadena, Texas. She was the only child of six that was born in a Hospital, the rest were born at home. Billie passed from this life on November 23, 2016 at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown at the age of 71.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Alvis and Trudie Wood; brothers: Cecil and Delmar Wood; and a stillborn sibling. Billie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, James E. Tibbs; daughter: Shantel Noble (Danny); sons: Jimmy, Michael (Janette) and Bill (Kris) Tibbs; grandchildren: Shannon Tremmel, John (Kayla) Tremmel, Chris Noble, Mike Tibbs, Kingston (Brianne) Tibbs, Karis Tibbs (Wade Thomas) and Tarryn; great-grandchildren: Christian, Jaxon, Kinsley, Anniston, Harper Grace, Trieu and Tristan; sister Naomi Davis; brother Johnny Wood; and a host of other family and friends.
Billie graduated from Galena Park High School, married her sweetheart at the age of 18 on June 14, 1963, was primarily a housewife raising their four children, but she helped the family income by becoming a licensed real estate agent, beautician and court reporter. She was a faithful member of Galena Park Assembly as a child, then she and Baw Baw took their family to Greens Bayou Assembly, and then to Cathedral of Praise. She served the Church as a Kinder and 1st Grade Sunday School Teacher, Women’s Ministries Director for several years and sang in the choir. She enjoyed reading Christian love stories, collecting cookie jars and baking, but her greatest love was the Lord, her husband, her family and her Church Family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 2:00 pm at Cathedral of Praise Assembly, 11303 C.E. King Parkway, Houston, Texas 77044.
