Billie Louise Murphy, 92, of Groesbeck, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Born in San Augustine, Texas, on January 14, 1933, she was the beloved daughter of Roy and Ethel Mitchell.
On October 15, 1959, Billie married Thomas S. Murphy in Houston, Texas, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and community. As a devoted housewife, Billie poured her heart into raising her children and creating a warm and welcoming home.
She served her community as an active member of the PTA for Whittier Elementary and a dedicated Campfire leader.
Billie had a lifelong love for crafts and nurturing plants—her creativity bloomed in every corner of her home and garden. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life.
She is survived by her daughters: Billie Knox and Danny Lauderdale of Wortham, TX, and Virginia Brewer-McGavitt and Clarence McGavitt of Montgomery, TX. She was a cherished grandmother to five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and she also leaves behind step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Billie is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Patsy Murrah and Buck Murrah of Klein, TX, and Mary Ann Huckaby of Alvarado, TX.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas S. Murphy, and beloved family members who have gone before her.
Billie will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
