Bettie Joe Modisette's Obituary
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Bettie Joe Modisette, 83, of Houston, Texas, who passed peacefully into eternal rest on April 30, 2025. Born on August 7, 1941, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Kenneth Montgomery and Pearline Harris, Bettie lived a life stitched together with faith, family, and the warmth of a well-loved home.
A devoted homemaker, Bettie was the quiet heartbeat of her family—her hands always busy, her heart always open. She found joy in the simple, beautiful things: the rhythm of a crochet hook, the delicate art of embroidery, the harmonies of music, and the fellowship of her church community. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of comfort, where apple cakes, homemade pies, and holiday feasts became treasured traditions. Every dish she made was a love letter to her family. Bettie had a green thumb and was able to grow all kinds of plants and flowers and made them flourish.
Bettie’s legacy lives on through her children: Laurie Modisette; Martie Modisette and his wife Melody; Larry Modisette and his wife Annette; and John Modisette and his wife Melony. She was a cherished mother-in-law to Joyce Modisette, a beloved sister to Gwen Langrell and Don Montgomery, and a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She now rejoices in heaven, reunited with her beloved husband Bennie Modisette and her dear son Bennie Modisette Jr. We imagine her there, humming a hymn, perhaps crocheting a blanket of clouds, surrounded by love.
Bettie’s life was a tapestry of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion. Her memory will be forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.
