Mrs. Smith was the mother of my sister's childhood & closest friend-Gayle. Beatrice always had a big, fixed smile on her face & huge hug for me. My heart goes out to the entire family, especially Gayle & Bill who were her angelic caregivers and made sure that Beatrice wanted for nothing. May God's love & mercy be with you all in your grief & sadness.
Mrs. Smith did not have an easy life. Being deaf, raising 3 children during the 1950-60 era AND seeking employment...can you imagine? Keep in mind...there were no government FREE RIDES and the deaf were culturally dismissed. Mrs. Smith was a hero. Although she faced many adversities during her life she was always a gracious and welcoming lady when I visited her home as a young teen. She was a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother & exemplified the strength of a woman who was part of the Greatest Generation.
I am so very greatful that I was lucky enough to have known Beatrice. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
